The Lonesome River Band has been one of the top bluegrass bands for 3. Through many albums and different band configurations, the LRB have been a standard bearer for bluegrass music. Since 1. 99. 0 Sammy Shelor has been a member of the band, and by the early 2.

Currently the band is made up of lead vocalists, Brandon Rickman (guitar) and Jesse Smathers (mandolin), along with Mike Hartgrove (fiddle) and Barry Reed (bass). Their latest project . They also recorded a version of the Billy Yates and Melba Montgomery song “As The Crow Flies”.

The LRB performing these songs sounds like a natural fit. Other songs on the album include the murder ballad “Blackbirds And Crows”, . There is also the title track, the up beat “Lonesome Bone”, the bluegrass regular”Fly Around Pretty Little Miss”, and a Gary Nicholson and Shawn Camp tune “It Feels Real Good Goin’ Down”. This was originally posted on March 1. I am still catching up on reviewing albums that were released a few weeks ago during the winter weather.

This album was released on February 1. EP consisting of 5 of the songs featured on the most recent recording was released in September 2. Glen Campbell’s I’ll Be Me, the soundtrack to the documentary of the same name, features the final recordings of the country superstar.

Campbell who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, decided to document his final tour. The film’s soundtrack album features Campbell on only six of its ten tracks. The opening version features the Wrecking Crew, a group of L. A. The Wrecking Crew played on many albums in the 1. The Mamas and Papas, The 5th Dimension, The Beach Boys, and Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound.

It’s sad and somber tone sets the mood for the remainder of the album. Glen Campbell’s other offerings on the album includes, “All I Need is You”, ” The Long Walk Home”, along with “A Better Place” and “Wichita Lineman”, recorded live at the Ryman Auditorium. The remainder of the album features Campbell’s daughter, Ashley, on “Remembering” and “Home Again”. She co- wrote both songs, which showcases her beautiful singing voice. I hope to hear more from her in the future.

The Band Perry provide two versions of the John Hartford penned, Campbell classic, “Gentle of My Mind”, which has received airplay on country radio. Their poppy, rootsy interpretation of the song is surprisingly enjoyable. I’ll Be Me reminds of us of how important music was and is to Glen Campbell’s life.

Already knowing the situation that Glen Campbell and his family are going through did not lessen the feeling of watching a friend slowly fade away, in song, no less. Many people have watched family members and friends fight the losing battle with Alzheimer’s.

Not only does is it pleasing to the ears, but it is just as satisfying lyrically.

The album finds Sara Evans teaming with her longtime producer Mark Bright to create an album that is familiar yet fresh. The songs cover many different styles, from the rootsy “Long Way Down”, to the pop styling of “Marquee Sign”, to ballads like “Make Room at the Bottom”. The songs come from the pens of many acclaimed songwriters, including as Hillary Lindsay, Gordie Sampson, Brett James, Darrell Scott, and Ashley Monroe. I enjoyed the country musical elements, fiddle and mandolin especially, that are found throughout the album, even on the more pop oriented tracks. The Asheville, N. C. Their new album sports a name change to Amanda Anne Platt and the Honeycutters. Platt, an award winning songwriter, has been singing lead and providing the majority of songs for the group. The rest of the group, The Honeycutters are Matt Smith ( pedal steel,guitar), Rick Cooper (bass), Josh Milligan (drums,harmony vocals), and Evan Martin (keys, guitars). Amanda Anne Platt and The Honeycutters new self titled album continues to build upon their previous successes, with an amalgamation of country, folk, and rock music.
